It's the oil, stupid!

Reader comment on item: How the West Could Lose
in response to reader comment: The Muslim Immigrant Issue

Muslims get their power because we, the West, need oil from the Middle East. Middle Eastern nations make us pay a very high price for their oil. No, I am not talking about the price per barrel, I am talking about the price in terms of political influence. The sooner we Westerners find alternatives to oil, the sooner we will be able to be free from Middle Eastern and Muslim influence. As soon as we get alternatives forms of energy, we can forget about Middle Eastern politics and Muslim issues. With all due respect, we don't really care about what goes on in Central Africa, Indonesia or the Philippines.

It is Middle Eastern Muslims who wield a huge power, because of the oil. Our pro-Muslim policies in the West are a form of reward for the oil we get from the Middle East. Islamists get support from oil-rich Middle Eastern countries. Think about it: Brasil has already found alternatives to oil, for their cars. The sooner we find alternatives to oil, the sooner we will be able to become self-sufficient. At that point, we will have free hands to deal with Muslims who live in the West. At that point, we might even stop being pro-Muslim in the West. Our dependency to oil took us to war and made us dependent on Middle East nations. Even the war against Iraq could have been avoided, if we had developed alternatives to oil.
