prediction, hope springs eternalReader comment on item: What Went Wrong with James A. Baker, III? Submitted by linda (United States), Dec 18, 2006 at 19:57 Again I hold out hope for Bush -- that he'll remain the "neo-con" that Islamists hate so much. I predict he'll politely accept Baker and Hamilton comments -- and do what he does best -- be his own man. So he had expectations that were too high for Iraqis. Yes, it's all too easy to say let them massacre each other, that they deserve it. Bush thought they were better than that. So many of the Muslims don't get it that he was one of the only ones who thought they could pull themselves out of their hellhole lives, if only for freedom. I only wish he'd be more than the neo-con. I want to see the cowboy again. He apologized for the cowboy at that press conference with Tony Blair. I felt terrible when he did that. As my kids take their history lessons, and I'm reminded of the genius and gutts that became the U.S., I'm so sad at what's in store for us. What an awful turn around. Do I dare say America deserves another terror attack? On my God, I just said it. God forgive me. President Bush, please don't cave. Please. Please. Change tactics. Do something radical. But don't do any more of this whimpy stuff. Please. It's breaking my heart. I'm counting on you. Don't give in. Get on t.v. in January and tell the bullies in Washington where to go, and proceed to something like Pipes' ideas on Iraq.
