Reader comment on item: Militant Islam Is Put In Class With Communism, Fascism

Submitted by True Seeker of knowledge (United Kingdom), Feb 27, 2003 at 16:03

Assalamu alaykum (Peace be upon u all),

I would just like to say that through reading some f these posts i have noticed that people lack in a real concept of Islam. Some people mock that Islam is a peace-loving religion.

I would just like to ask a couple of questions:

How many people actually have memorised the whole text of the bible? Is it a common thing amongst the christians?

Why is it that a nun resembles a muslim woman in her dress?

Is it against nature to have a desire for the opposite sex? If not, then why are nuns, monks and priests not allowed to marry??

Why is it that only about ten yrs back, that women could not enter the church without their head being covered or wearing gloves?

Why is it that classical books a man and woman could never meet and talk alone unless if they were chapereoned or in a ball dancing? Pride and prejudice by Jane Austen is a prime example of social ettiqutes. Also, it shows that a young girl ran off with a young soldier and there was a complete disgrace on the family, which might have even acted as a barrier for the other sisters to marry well. I daresay, that in those times it was immoral and these actions are widely accepted by many christians as lawful?

I have to say one thing though, i have made many attempts to read the bible and each time i am told by a christian to read a different version. Can someone explain to me why the references never are the same in another bible? What language is it translated from? As Jesus was born in Bethleham, so the message must have been in his tongue, so why is it that none is mentioned about it's language? This i say, sounds like chinese whispers, as the actual text is away and only its translations of translations are around.

Whereas in islam if you read a translation of the Qur'an, you are actually reading an interpretation and not the translation, as it is so rich that to understand it to its full potent, you must have an understanding of Arabic. Thus, we as individuals can actually read the rules and stories directly from God without going through any third person.

I'm sorry if i have misunderstood anything, but could someone please clear my ideas. I did not put this post up to annoy anyone, but i have put it up to have my thoughts clarified. As in islam we are always taught to question to learn.

May God show us the straight path and guide us from being mislead. Ameen

Fee amanillah (God be with you)

Wa salaam
