Reader comment on item: What Went Wrong with James A. Baker, III?

Submitted by Peter J. Herz (United States), Dec 8, 2006 at 20:51

Baker has indeed gone soft. Wasn't the whole Iran-Contra affair part of a botched effort by the Reagan administration to offer an olive branch to Iran?

Iran very clearly relishes its role as the tamer of the Great Shaitan, and uses its anti-Americanism very skillfully to win sympathy in Latin America, the Middle East, and Yurrupp (rhymes with Burr-up, after too much moldy cheese and bitter wine). My guess is that when Dame Hillary becomes Prez, and sends out feelers to Iran, we'll see the Khomeini-ites seizing American hostages wherever they can.

No, my feeling is that until Iran on its own shows me otherwise, I'll continue to think that the best thing that could ever happen to it would be a modern edition of the visitattions of Huleku Khan and Temur-e-lang. Their manners hide the poison of asps and their smiles conceal daggers.

While we're at it, every member of the Mojaheddin-e-Khalq in America ought to be rounded up and deported ASAP. In their own circles, they boast of being the first ones into the "Nest of Spies", and hence have no business in the USA. They and the Khomeini-ites deserve each other richly.
