Change the subject againReader comment on item: The 751 No-Go Zones of France Submitted by Greg (United States), Nov 28, 2006 at 18:02 The issue in discussion is Zones within countries where police are in danger, or the rules of the country are not being obeyed. The fact that India is not the bastion of human rights is not a secret. But in a world where only 70 odd countries in the UN (out of 190 or so) are actually democratic/republics - India is a lot better than most. What would be a more interesting conversation is a comparison of ethnic/religious minorities in different countries and the violence they are responsible for. Christians minorities around the world. Muslim minorities around the world. etc The Jewish population in the US is about 2% so no doubt the bastions they have in Philadelphia and NY are similar to the areas of France and India. I just looked up both cities and I don't see the problems like the muslims have in Europe and in Asia. So maybe its just that America is a better country or the fact that Jews and Christians are actually peoples of peace. Not just in words, but also in practice. Real oppression however must also be fought back against. And whether people are trying to oppress you by allowing people to change religion, or simply by allowing women to read or drive a car - it is a just cause for violent struggle. Especially when the public medium of discusion has been exhausted. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
