POINT OF CONTENTION..Reader comment on item: An Unveiling: Separate, but Acceptable? Submitted by DONVAN (United States), Nov 27, 2006 at 09:08 The wearing of head gear is of no concern to any private citizen, since there no accounting for taste. The coverning of the face is disconserting to the private citizen. It frightens the children, disguises criminals, is a device to hide or obscure. Police officers are at greater risk, and you know this to be true. As you said the custom of wearing the "Hijab" is common in Muslim Countries. This is not a Muslim country. here grad is not considered political. Women wear scarves,shalls,etc for comfort, the Muslim "Hijab" is a political statement and a symbol of oppression and "Apartness" and the enslavement of women. Wake up...
