Is the Press missing something?Reader comment on item: Polls, Palestinians and the Path to Peace Submitted by A. Orley Swartzentruber, Ph.D. (United States), Feb 18, 2003 at 10:52 1.Last weekend Osama bin Laden called on all muslims and arabs to unite, even transcending differences of "nationalism" or "communism" (Iraq) in order to defend against the Crusader.2. On Sunday the Arab League, which had been meeting in Cairo, issued its final resolution, unanimously adopted, to the effect that an attack against one of them would be an attack against all. 3. By this action the Arab League a. heeded the call of O. b Laden b. made itself henceforth responsible for Saddam's actions (c. relieved America from moral responsibility to remove him) and d. placed the mantle of moral leadership of the Arab League upon none other than Osama bin Laden This is a momentous action on the part of the Arab League: I have failed to notice any response to it in the media, or from our government. Have I just been too inattentive? Can this action really be so insignificant? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
