First, as a college student, let me assert that Mr. Pipes is in large part correct about the equivocation of many college professors. It has even reached the Christian school I attend. Second, I would like to take issue with the claim that, as a result of accomodation to American culture, the statement "No one comes to the Father but through me," has been somehow changed or omitted. Churches that deny the power of Christ and Christ alone to redeem deny a key component of Christianity. While there is some question as to exactly how this verse should be interpreted, (such as C. S. Lewis' comments on this verse), no Christian church should, for the sake of culture, ignore this important truth of our belief.
I would also like to note that this verse does not call on Christians to engage in holy war, and that comparing this doctrine to that of Jihad is erronious.
