Bush understands that the Islam world (and the world in general) is at a crucial point in its history. Islamic terrorism can lead to an horrific anarchy that can engulf a large portion of the essential strategic areas of the world. To simply back off and leave the situation to the people of the region is tantamount to giving the world to the mob.
