France and Germany are afraid if US succeeds in the war it will become even more powerful, and consequently France and Germany more irrevelant. Historically France likes to opose US and can't stomach its diminishing importance in the world. Schroeder cornered himself to win the election.They both like to see US in some trouble and benefit from it in the votes.Bush has a strong conviction which others lack. He will be proven right.
