Mr. Pipes
I think you are putting way too much emphasis on stories in the UK media which are acknowledged by the vast majority of people here as yet more examples of local coucils PC gone mad.
First of all, in a follow up story to the cemetery fiasco, a spokesman for the Council in question totally denied that all muslim graves would from now on face Mecca. The idea is preposterous. Here's a question, from which country did the ludicrous idea of political correctness originate? That's right, the US.
Secondly, stories like the one about the guy revving his car usually turn out to be untrue and they certainly dont merit serious comment. Here in the UK it's usually right wing commentators like Richard Littlejohn who pick up these absurd items and spin them into "clash of civilisation" warnings. If there were witnesses as the item alleges, then just maybe the driver got what he deserved?

Daniel Pipes replies:
If these stories turn out to be inaccurate, point that out to me and I will note as much on the weblog. Until then, "putting way too much emphasis" on such developments seems to me a rather subjective conclusion. I happen to think they are important.
