What you are basically saying is that our constitution should be replaced with religious laws. That, my friend, is not liberal democracy. IT IS THEOCRACY, AND WHOEVER THINKS THAT CHRISTIAN THEOCRACY IS "BETTER" THAN ISLAMIC THEOCRACY OBVIOUSLY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THE INQUISITION...LOOK AT HOW MANY JEWS DIED IN THAT!!! As I have stated, I respect what religious folk do... Faith, as I have said, is a wonderful thing...but that doesn't mean that I have to have a faith, much less become a theocratic religious fundamentalist. Faith is supposed to bring inner peace, and the Bible, like the Quran, is not an appropriate guide for Western government. The Bibleis a comprehensive, ambiguous (personal, not political) code for living for anyone who wishes to read an follow it.
I'm not trying to discourage other people from practicing their religion (I know many practicing Christians, Jews, Hindus, and YES Muslims, many of whom are lovely people). I am a secularist (Though proud to call myself "Jewish" and recognize the richness of the Judeo-Christian tradition)...and you don't have to be a conservative to LOVE Israel, either). This simply means that am opposed to politicized religion of any kind. Church and state are separate for a reason...In fact, they protect religious pluralism and enable religious minorities to practice without being quasi dhimmis.
Secondly, my beliefs are not the reason that Islamist extremists are attacking us (that is what Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson...and later Ann Coulter said. That "Godless secularism" ...and not Osama Bin Laden...caused 9/11...AM I REALLY SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THIS BS. Saudi Arabia is responsible for the global Islamist threat, though, and that is why we need to get independence from their oil, so they can stop funding Hamas, Al-Qaeda, and the other Jihad Brigades.
Unfortunately, no one in Washington is listening. I bet that if it weren't for the al-Saud family, at least half of the tragedies of the last few years could have been avoided. Anyone who claims that "Godless secularism" caused 9/11 is as moronic as any Syrian or Emirati who claims that the Mossad was behind the attacks...It is utter nonsense. Christian nationalism is starting to scare me almost as much as Islamo-fascism, and by God I dread the day when the West becomes a battleground between the two... This is NOT the kind, gentle form of Christianity I am used to. This is RADICAL Christianity... And to be frank, I don't want either it or Islamism infecting and destroying my beloved America. I AM VERY, VERY SCARED!!!
