What you have just underlined is not the fundamentalism that I am talking about. It is a personal, individual choice...My point is that people should have the right to live to live their personal lives by a religious text if they want to. I, meanwhile, have chosen not to do so. In the good old U-S of A, a secular country, we should not have religion in our government, our science classes, or enforced in our personal lives (unless we choose to live by Bible, Quran, or whatever).
The Bible is a wonderful way to shape one's personal life if he or she so desires. It is not a guide for government, though, and making it so would probably destroy the West. So, perhaps I am not talking about your form of fundamentalism. What I am really talking about is politicized religion and religious fundamentalism. And by the way, the response just affirmed something I already realized. People in general seem to be very thin-skinned these days, especially when it comes to religion. Indeed, I love Christians, Muslims, Jews, and Hindus just for being themselves. Just remember that the First Amendment of the US Constitution calls for a separation of church and state (and I am calling for people to avoid theocratic double-standards).
