You said you disagree with most of my points. Could you be more specific? Could you quote me and then bring your counter points? Otherwise you sound like "I disagree because well... I just disagree" with no logical flow or facts to support your conclusion? What facts do you base your opinions on? Or do you think they are valid opinions because they are yours?
You can quote Daniel Pipes all you want, but as brilliant as Dr. Pipes is he does not define, or even derive Islam. The Koran on the other hand is a driving force for Muslims so if you want to find out whether Islam is a religion of peace, the Koran would be a more authoritative source. So open the Koran, read, then talk. If you want to do more research open Martin Lings's "Mohammad" - it is a good representation of how Muslims perceive their prophet.
"But I would like to think when I do have children they would not be persecuted in a reputedly liberal country because of race, religion or culture" If Muslims take over (and have no doubt, they will - that is their goal) your children (assuming Muslims will let you live long enough to have any) will most certainly be persecuted just anyone who is not Muslim is persecuted in Muslim societies.
We already tried appeasing them. Worked well right?
