I must say I agree with you, Fern. I was dismayed to hear that Israel had accepted a cease fire agreement yesterday. I have friends in Israel who are in the IDF and want to finish the job, but have been held back from a full, all-out attack because of world disapproval of the "killing of civilians." I know how hard Jews work to avoid hurting civilians and taking of innocent lives. I am a Jew and I know my tradition's reverence for life. It appalls me to hear that the Arab countries called for an emergency meeting of the human rights group of the UN saying that Israel is perpetrating crimes against humanity in Lebanon! How absurd that the world could interpret what is happening there in such a way without regard for Hezbollah's blatant disregard for life of any kind!
These are terrible times. I had friends for dinner last night who said they know what it's like to have a target on their backs. They are Jews by choice. How ironic!
I pray for the civilized world to come out the victor in this battle against evil.
