Seattle Jews and Feelings About Muslim Attack
Reader comment on item: More on Naveed Haq, Seattle's Sudden Jihadi

Submitted by Seattle Massacre/Naveed Haq (United States), Aug 9, 2006 at 21:07

I read with interest Daniel Pipes' comments regarding the attack on the Seattle office of the Jewish Federation. I am president of my synagogue here in the Seattle area and I've been saying for years that I don't understand the lack of fear on the part of my fellow Seattle Jews.

Particularly after this rampage, when I received an invitation to "understand the Qu'ran" by a Jewish American Congress leader, I had a real problem. I don't believe that there is a sincere desire on the part of Muslims to be "brothers" or join in a community with Jews. I don't know about Christians.

I am very uncomfortable with any relationship between the Jewish community and the Muslims who live in our midst. I believe they are all hearing the same inciteful message from the Imams who preach in the mosques to "kill the infidels" and dominate the world. We are infidels and trying to be friends is not going to change that.

I was not terribly shocked at the attack on the Federation building. I am shocked to see that many individuals in the Jewish community seem to think this was a one-time event and will never happen again, much less to their place of worship. I fear that it will.
