Reader comment on item: European Elected Officials: Arabs Should Destroy Israel
in response to reader comment: Disappointing as usual

Joerg Haider, Austrias far-right leader and Governor of Carinthia, a province heavily depending on tourism, issued on July 30th a press release (http://tinyurl.com/npod8), calling the Israeli airstrike on Qana an act of terror.

[quote]
A minimum of 51 civilians, amongst them 22 children, were killed in an act of terror by Israel. Haider asked that those responsible in Israel shall be delivered to the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague.
Haider asked for an immediate ceasefire, but as Israel and the US will not agree on such, it seems clear to him that those eager for war are to be found in Washington and Jerusalem. It looks like they [Israel and the US] are not looking for a peaceful solution, but for a greater war involving the whole Near East in order to reorder the region in the interest of the oil-greedy US. They are not fighting the axis of evil, they are the axis of evil, Haider said about Israel and the US.

Joerg Haider belongs to the ruling Austrian party BZOe, to which also the Austrian vice-chancellor Gorbach, the minister of justice Gastinger and the minister for social security Haubner (Haider's sister) belong.

Haider also repeatedly offered political asylum to Saddam Hussein in Carinthia and is a close friend of Muammar al-Gaddafi.
