What you said sounds beautiful and humane, but what if your enemy plugs his ears and insists on killing? Are you going to sit back and let him do to you what he will? Gandhi's satyagraha might have worked with folks like the British, but I honestly don't think it would work with folks like Islamic militants. If the sorry history of Islam is anything to go by, they would never feel bad about what they did and stop doing it (like the Brits). No, they would just slaughter you and gloat over your dead body.
