Reader comment on item: "Muslim Group Targets Jewish Holidays"

Submitted by Cindy Saroya (United States), Aug 2, 2006 at 16:35

Jewish people need to look past the superficial "support" that fundamentalist Christian groups have for the State of Israel to the reason behind that support. They support Israel's existence because they view it as a sign of approaching Armageddon, and they hope to see it destroyed as it presently exists in the turmoil surrounding the Last Days. These are people who firmly believe all Jews who remain uncoverted will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. They do not have either Israel's, or the Jewish people's, interests in either their minds or their hearts.

In a similar vein, American Jews need to keep in mind that there is nothing anti-Semitic about Islam, although there are, of course, Muslim anti-Semites. Indeed, Islam teaches that the Torah and Psalms are legitimate revelations from God to the Jewish people, that Allah is the same God of the Jews, and they believe everyone will be judged by God according to their spiritual merits and deeds. The finest flowering of Jewish culture was under Muslim civilzations, due to the liberal attitude of Muslim governments, particularly when contrasted with European Christian civilizations. Jews should not equate Muslim difficulties with the way the Palestinian and other situations are, or are not, handled by Israel with anti-Semitism.
