Syria is the Key
Reader comment on item: "Greater Syria" in the News

Religiology aside, I don't understand our strategy, or lack of it, unless there are unknown asides behind the curtain. If the 'useful idiots' of Hezbollah are the fingers and the arm of Iran is presently intractable, what about the hand - Syria? Far from being 'bogged down' in Iraq, we have 130,000 troops in the heart of the Caliphate, at Syria's wide open back door. Occupying Baghdad was the dream of the Brits, Russians, and Germans. Are our generals maneuver commanders, or Gentleman Johnny Burgoynes on garrison duty?

Look at it from Syria's viewpoint. Their populace is far from unified and their 'leader' is an American-educated Ferris Buhler. Their military is a joke. They are surrounded by Jews on the one side and Americans on the other.

Who holds the cards here, and why aren't we playing them?
