Mr Sayyed's article is interesting reading. A bit further on he goes further than Dr Pipes quote indicates - he says that what we need ( from Muslims, he implies) is a belief in 'the truth that all human beings are created equal'. I am not sure whether or not that automatically excludes all Muslims. My feeling is that Islam teaches that all human beings are created inferior - inferior to a superior God figure. I don't know if we are supposed to be equally inferior or not. Isn't there some phrase though that refers to Muslims as the 'best of all peoples'? I'm sure it is very different to the Jewish conception, in which it is stated that Israel was chosen specifically not because they were the best or the greatest, but because indeed they were the least. It would be nice to find that one could embrace the term moderate muslim.
