Reader comment on item: The Canadian Islamic Congress Discusses the Old Testament

Unless we read what "they" read, study what "they" study, and evaluate the people "they" look up to, then exactly what are we doing?

Sun Tzu, a militarist, and not a great thinker per se, said that if you know your enemy, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.

Islam as a theology has never had many great theologian-culturalists in its history, and by no means anything of the quality and intelligence of St. Thomas Aquinas, Thomas Mann, St. Augustine, Spinoza, Descartes, and so many others. One could very well relate the richness of European thought to the varying climate and lush vegetation of Europe and the barrenness of Arab thought to the emptiness of their deserts.

One might also contrast the European zest for a beautiful life with the deep depression of the Arabs and their unnatural longing for death. One might very well ask if death is so appealing to so many Arabs, just why are they favoring all their enemies with it? The answer of course is that their life begins at death, and they have embraced the concept of their watching everyone else burning in hell for eternity. No matter which way you look at the Arabs, they need a holiday, a fair dinkum holiday. A holiday away from the severity of their climates, both physical and mental.

If things get any worse in the Middle East, the United States may be obliged to forget cowardly Europe and corrupt United Nations, join with Israel and just take the Middle East.

There are very few alternatives.
