WHO is Israel fighting ?Reader comment on item: Thoughts on the Israeli Incursion into Gaza Submitted by Henry Efroymson (United States), Jul 14, 2006 at 10:38 The media refers to Israel's exchanges with "Hamas" instead of Gaza, and "Hezbollah" instead of Lebanon. Arab States permit meaningful participation in their gov'ts (Hamas IS the elected gov't in Gaza, and Hezbollah controls half of Lebanon and is very actively involved in the Lebanese government), yet when Israel is attacked, the arab countries and the media characterize the attacks as being waged by "militias". Israel has been attacked by Gaza and by Lebanon, not some rogue militias, and therefore, Israel may treat these missile attacks and kidnappings as acts of war.
