Islam: Theory & Practice

Reader comment on item: Debating PBS's "Muhammad" Documentary

Submitted by Dolce Farniente (United States), Dec 20, 2002 at 00:33

The philosophy of Islam as expressed in the documentary sounds wonderful.

However, there is no example that I know of of the precepts of love, tolerance, etc, actually being followed by the faithful.
Islam, in practice, seems to feature violence, hatred and intolerance.

There seems to be a rather widespread deviation from the teachings of the Prophet.

It appalling that so many thugs professing Islam, commmit terror, murder & mayhem in "God's" name, in so many places throughout the world, USA, Bali, Nigeria, Chechnya, Israel, Kenya, Phillipines, etc. Muslim clerics in Mecca, Gaza, Jerusalem, Great Britain, etc., spew crude hatred from their pulpits.

Maybe there ought to be a documentary called "When Islam Went Astray".
