Dr Pipes,

Is anyone really surprised by the results of the survey? The western public knew every time the government public relations jocks extolled the virtues of the Islamic faith and spoke for its majority of adherents against terror that they were building metaphorical castles in the air without any factual substratum. There has always been a strong push towards aggression and militarism as part of this faith we merely experienced a centuries long lull in these ambitions of global conquest because the adherents lacked the means to catapult themselves into dominance again.

Now is their moment - demographic decline in the west, illiberal leftist multi culti allies in the west, political correctness, terrorism which cannot legally stain the reputation of their community or reduce job prospects. But most of all they have indifference on their side - the bulk of the non-muslim public think "It may be true but so what?" In order to do anything about it one would have to fight all of the institutions that support it, the muslims and their allies as well. And perhaps even invest some time and resources in reducing our flagging population growth. See Rev Daniel Nalliah's case for a measure of the effectiveness of trying to do this on your own: http://www.catchthefire.com.au/ Islam uses only just as much force as it has to to keep the momentum in its favor rousing us for short spells then letting us drift back to sleep whilst it consolidates on its gains.

The solution if there is one can be found in self examination. Given the political frailty of the west there might be ethical but there is no strategic reason for the Islamic faith to change course in the face of its staggering success. Its the west that needs to change - we need to become smarter, prouder and more aggressive adopting a long term military strategy. Faith alone is not enough - it needs to be coupled with strategy. Though a little faith wouldn't go astray since modern education systems both tertiary and secondary seem to be dedicated to eroding this along with pride in one's background and history or any notion of religiousity (barring Islamic which is treated with kids gloves). A tremendous and aggressive purge must occur of all idealogues especially those on the self defeating left throughout our society. So irredeemable is the enmity of these people to our society and way of life that America would do more long term political good for itself dropping its bombs on them rather than the Taliban.

Certain organisational realities impact on this the central struggle of our times. In my rather checkered history political interest in Irish Republican matters I noted the IRA which developed astoundingly sophisticated urban warfare strategies may have been the source of the cell model of organisation that thrives in Islamic terrorist enterprises. This means that whilst an astoundingly large fraction of Islamists exist in any one particular Islamic community even the Islamists immediately proximate those planning an attack may not be aware of said exercise. So expect and forgive false positives in detecting terrorists - we aren't hurting friends if occasionally we jail or deport the wrong people.

Second of all the form of warfare fought by Islam must be acknowledged and countered more effectively. Like all totalitarian movements Islam has the unique ability to harness its own criminal element and direct the activity and violence of it outward. It therefore provides religious validation to all forms of human activity that serve the purpose of its expansion. Rape when it brutalises an infidel or brings more children into the "light" of Islam, theft when it takes from an infidel and brings more wealth into the hands of Islam, murder when it serves to initmidate or reduce the size of an infidel community and assault when it brutalises an infidel are all acceptable thus even criminals in the pursuit of their trade find their way to heaven provided they pick the appropriate victims.

In the west the people who pursue violence against foreigners are pariahs. They are the Neo nazis, the Ku Klux Klan - and they are marginalised and often banned as organisations. Our children are taught to hate them. In the east these men are mujahadeen - holy crusaders bringing the light of Islam to the infidel. Children are taught to admire these people and often seek to emulate them. This places western civilisation at a tremendous disadvantage in the street by street battle of merely trying to police the new moorish invasion.

Christianity now in its twilight taught us to "love our enemy". Perhaps in the context of Islam the greatest love we can show is by not allowing our enemy to defeat us and imprison our region of the world in another dark age. Such a victory would be better both for them and for us.

Cordially,

Reuben Horne.
