Discrimination in Muslim majority country

Reader comment on item: Muslim-Controlled Governments Subsidize Conversions of Kafirs

Submitted by Gopal (Singapore), Jul 1, 2006 at 01:46

The original people of Peninsular Malaysia like the bushmen of Australia are the aborigines termed orang asli in the Malay lingo. With the passage of time, millions of Muslim migrants from the neighbouring Indonesian archipelago have crossed over to Malaysia to make it their home. Furthermore, during the Japanese occupation, thousands of improvised Javanese (Indonesian) were similarly brought in to conter the British and Chinese populations by the Japanese administrators.

With numbers, legislations are passed that all Muslims who speak Malay and dress Malay and eat literally from the hand to the mouth are classified as bumiputras (original people) like the then Indian Muslim PM, Dr Maharthir, for the purpose of receiving special economic and social previleges and rights fom the state at the expense of the tax-paying non-Muslims. The discriminatory policy enacted in the 1960s is called affirmative policy. Muslim-biased laws are passed because the Muslim population has grown in leaps and bounds from easy immigration policies, polygamy, high birth rates, easy Muslim divorces (talak), etc.
