Kaffirs reference offensiveReader comment on item: Muslim-Controlled Governments Subsidize Conversions of Kafirs Submitted by Abdul Rahman Reijerink (Australia), Jun 30, 2006 at 11:59 Dr. Pipes, while I share with you a horror of the acts described in your article, i think the misuse of the word Kaffir merely reinforces the evil propaganda of those who like to call all non-muslims the people of hell. Does this make you a stealth islamist like Dr. Abou El Fadl? I think you should be refuting the use of the word in this context, especially if it was not used by the maniacs in Malaysia who proposed this obscene policy. Please don't give more credibility to the Islamists by endorsing their revolting language with your academic standing. Please. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: I use the term because it is one that Islamists use all the time - and I do so not to promote their goals but expose them. For more on the term, see "Are Christians Infidels (Kafirs)?" Comment on this item
