HM Government is a paper tiger vis-a-vis Islamists
Reader comment on item: British Government Worries about Radical Islamic Teachings at Universities

On and off, Her Majesty's (Her Majesty's 80th birth today celebrated in pomp and circumstance) Government of Right Honorable Anthony Blair has time and again made threating statements against Islamists and brilliantly done --- nothing. A sort of masterful inactivity.

Some months back, the Home minister threatened to close down mosques which advocated terror. Nothing has happened even though there are reports of Imams preaching terror. As part of War on Terror, Tony Blair made a famous speech in which he said 'rules have changed'. If so, no one has seen any evidence of it. The only energetic action of Tony Blair's governemnt is to lock up one Imam preaching terror - that too after the US government asked for his extradition. The appeasement of Muslims and more so the Islamists, goes on at every stage. Just few days back, Gordon Brown , the Finance Minsiter said Britain will be in the forefront of 'Islamic banking'. Tariq Ramadan, who asks Muslim youth to consider Britain as a 'Land of Proselytising' and hence spare it from terrorism

So, don't hold your breath. The political and monetary factors ranged against any crackdown on islamists is too high in Briatin now. Moreover, London has been chosen the 2012 Olympics venue. Hence Tony Blair's govt. and Ken Livingstone's London has more reason to be accomodating to Islamists lest they distrupt Olympics with suicide or some other terroristic act.
