Perhaps the most important point here is that so-called "moderate" Muslims have the duty and obligation to reign in the radical elements of their own religion. Only they have the power to establish Islam as the non-violent creed they claim it to be. Although they are the first to condemn any branding of Islam as a violent religion, moderate, peace-loving Muslims are often fairly slow to make more than passing public criticisms of violent Islam. They also tend to soften any such statements with references to the West's culpability for the violence.
Not so for non-Muslims. As the political correctness surrounding Islam's violent tendencies slowly melts away in the face of Islam's brutal acts, more non-Muslims are asking why we should be forced to pay lip-service to Islam's peaceable aspects. This is tantamount to being forced to admit that the Emperor is wearing clothes when, in fact, the Emperor is beginning to look more and more naked as the bombs keep exploding.
