Discussion CPT in Iraq

Reader comment on item: Christian Peacemaker Teams: Blame Bush, not Islamists

Submitted by Charlie Jackson (United States), May 1, 2006 at 23:45

Please at least get the facts straight. What the NY Times reported about Tom Fox "torture" turned out not to be true after an autopsy.

As to the motivations of CPT'rs traveling in Iraq....why don't you ask us directly?

I've been on three delegations to Iraq during this war (my last visit was just before the kidnapping of my colleagues). I can speak directly to the activities that I participated in during my trips to Iraq, what I learned, where I visited, and what the Iraqis that I encountered had to say. I continue to track the events in that country on a daily basis.

Daniel Pipes replies:

I reported the facts as they were known at the time.

CPT's motivations are no mystery to me; I concerned myself with the goals of the Iraqi group.
