The Crusades

Reader comment on item: Government for Sale [to the Saudis]

Submitted by J.Shearer (United Kingdom), Dec 6, 2002 at 06:50

To commenter Ron:
I think it is worth pointing out that the Crusades arose as a consequence of nearly 300 years of attacks on the Christian world by Islam. Even then the Pope did not stir until Christain holy sites in Israel were under threat. Thus the Crusades were a legitimate act of self defence of the Christian world by the Christian world. For Muslims to continue citing the Crusades as a grievance is further indication of the Islamic dictum, that once an infidel country is conquered it becomes forever Muslim.
