A common theory that is put forth by a lot of people, pundits and commoners alike, is that the US-Saudi relationship is driven by the economics of cheap oil. Any attempts to speak the truth, they imply, could drive oil prices up and result in possible economic instability and chaos.

However the math tells a different story - the US lost about a trillion dollars in the aftermath of 9/11, all because of this deep addiction to "cheap" Saudi oil.

The civilized world needs to be reminded that the price of gas has shot up after 9/11; we can no longer fool ourselves into believing that there is any such thing as cheap oil.

The war on terror will be not be won till we wean ourselves away from Islamic oil and develop sustainable sources of energy because the price of gas is going UP.
