One reader commented that it was better to let all the Mexicans in and, because so many are Roman Catholic, they would help keep the Muslims out. There is a serious problem with that kind of thinking, and I can't let that comment go by without putting in my "2cents worth".
One big problem with illegal immigration is that it IS ILLEGAL! And I can't figure out what part of ILLEGAL the Congress - and other Americans don't seem to understand! Many of those pouring across our borders are NOT willing to assimilate into our culture. Did you see some of the signs they were carrying? "This is our land", "We're not illegal here - you are!" - that sort of thing. does that say to you that they are going to assimilate?
I keep hearing the argument that this is a nation of immigrants, so why are we having such a problem with this group!! Yes, we are a nation of immigrants! - LEGAL immigrants. They went through the process and were checked out and when they did get in the country, they learned to speak English - made sure their kids spoke English. We NEVER would have thought of having phone messages in Spanish, and whatever other language. Because this is AMERICA and we speak English here. If you don't care enough to learn the language and to live LIKE AN AMERICAN then you shouldn't be here! If you don't like it here - then go back to where to came from! But don't come to OUR country - and then try to make it like the one you came from! Americans need to wake up and look at what is happening in Europe! BECAUSE the Muslims poured into Europe through their open borders, and because they did not assimilate into their new culture, we now have parts of Europe - in some cases little enclaves of Muslims where they have declared Sharia - and they live under Sharia - and do NOT follow the laws of the country in which they are living. THAT is not good for any country! Some nations are starting to wake up - far too late - and are now shutting down their borders and forcing any future emigrants to LEARN the basic language, STUDY the culture and take an oath to live in the culture into which they have moved. And if htey violate that, they can be deported - even if they become "naturalized" - they can still be deported if they do NOT assimilate into the culture and live under the laws of the nation to which they have moved.
THAT is what we need to do here. Personally I believe we should CLOSE our borders - STOP all immigration until we can get our stuff together and get things under control. The only exception would be any DIRE cases of asylum. And then re-open immigration programs with LIMITED numbers of people per year. We absolutely MUST start making those who come here start acting like Americans and live under American law. If they don't like it - don't try to change US to meet your desires - get out! We have done just fine the way we have been. One reader commented on memories of people who were PROUD to wave the American Flag. And people UNAFRAID to practice their religion - without the ACLU suing them every time they mentioned the name of Jesus! But instead of keeping things that way, we are now letting the ACLU - a COMMUNIST organization - tell us - Americans - how we can live our lives!! And there are darned few willing to stand up to them!
Muslims want to dominate the world. That should come as no surprise to anyone. And there are many in this country who are 'pretending' to live in our culture until the time comes for them to rise up and overtake us. Read portions of the Quran! It's in there. They are told it's okay to lie to others - if by so doing you are making them think they are "safe". Islam is NOT a religion of peace - Read "The Politically Incorrect History of Islam and the Crusades" by Robert Spencer. This is NOT an opinion book - the author has very well documented everything that he writes. I think maybe it should be required reading for every American! Because there are far too many of us who are being fooled by them! We CANNOT let them get ahead of us - for they will take over this great nation as soon as they believe it can be done! And the way the Left is weakening us, and taking away our Judeo-Christian principles and inheritance, it's getting easier and easier for us to be taken over. Ask the Afghan who converted to Christianity how 'peaceful' Islam is - he was going to be executed - FOR BECOMING A CHRISTIAN and refusing to turn back to Islam. How many of us would be strong enough to maintain our own Christianity or Judaism or whatever else?
Americans MUST WAKE UP! It scares me to think the Left may take control of the Congress - because along with the increased Socialism, we will get a further chipping away at our Christian heritage! PLEASE AMERICA - DON'T LET THAT HAPPEN!
