I grew up in the '40s - 50s near New Castle, Pa. Many of our teachers were graduates from the "normal schools" including Slippery Rock College. My recollection of those teachers is mostly one of respect and admiration.
In the late 60's and later, I became associated with some Slippery Rock graduates as colleagues in a Vocational-Educational school. In fact, I married one. My recollection of them is that many were somewhat whiney and self-absorbed. One of the favorite topics was how much their parents were like Archie Bunker. Pot was smoked. All of the irreverent things were pronounced. They pumped up thier own self-esteem. Most of them were intellectual light-weights.
Apparently, the trend has continued, if this article is to be given any credence. I hope it is not so. The leftist has stultified true intellectual discourse perhaps more than the most obtuse of right end of the spectrum. Pity.
