In an August 2005 profile of Norquist in the New Yorker, John Cassidy says that, pace reports, he hasn't converted: "Others have suggested that Norquist, in marrying a Muslim, converted to Islam, which isn't true." It's also worth noting that in 2003, Norquist banned Gaffney from the Wednesday meeting for being a "despicable racist."
