I'm thinking that the reason Israel doesn't do what you suggest is that (1) it's partially prohibited by their own internal division (like ours is likely to inhibit us from addressing Iran like we should) and (2) all the UN noise that would follow.Consequently, we in the US may be the primary inhibiting factor. I like your question, though. As Pipes says, someone has to win and someone lose before this ends.
