You and your readers might be interested in a very recently published book "The Roots of Jihad" by Dr Tawfik Hamid (ISBN: 0-9771021-2-2. Published in the USA but publisher not listed). Dr Hamid is an Egytian, and describes his personal experience as a student in Egypt, the influence militant Islam had on him, and his rejection of that influence, as well as explaining basic Islamic tenets . His perspective is chilling and his warning clear.
