Our real enemy is our "ally"Reader comment on item: [The Need to Name and] Know Thy Terrorists Submitted by Sully (United States), Nov 20, 2002 at 15:04 It frustrates me but the box we are in is clear. We can't name the enemy because the entire leadership of our Saudi Arabian "ally" are either fervent believers in the ideology or else are terrified of the believers among them. And we can't take on the Saudi royal family until after our populace is enraged enough to put up with a real oil crisis. Bush is steering delicately in shallow water because too few among us are ready to suffer the penalties implicit in taking the war to the real enemy. The irony is that the next terrorist attack, or the one after that, will be what will put us over the edge and ready to "bear any burden."
