First AmendmentReader comment on item: The U.S. Government Builds Mosques and Madrassahs Submitted by Haider gilani (United States), Mar 20, 2006 at 21:06 Mr.Pipes,... I dont think building a mosque (especially one destroyed by us) violates the First Amendment at all and if you think it does than maybe so does having Christmas as a Federal holiday.I also suspect it enhances our image amongst the one billion or so Muslims around the world which, contrary to your views,is quite important to us as we try to garner Muslim support in our war against Terror. Thank you. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate. For complete regulations, see the "Guidelines for Reader Comments". Daniel Pipes replies: It just happens to be against the US Constitution. And, far from contrary to my views, I do believe that Muslim participation in the war on radical Islam is critical.
