Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Islam is codified Arabic culture. Arabic culture is clan-based, holding the importance of 'face-saving' above all else. This allows all clans to survive without genocidal war (such as exemplified by the Hatfield-McCoy feuds). This also explains the lack of clarity in Muslim arguments in this forum.

Truth is not recognized as the absolute necessity in Arabic culture, as it is in Western cultures. A compromise that allows all parties to feel "right" is the best solution in Arabic culture, whereas in Western cultures there is a real need to find an absolute truth that remains the same no matter which party is looking at it. So Muslim 'arguments' tend to cloud any issue, and emphasize positive comments about Islam, with no relation to actual truth.

Mohammed was exposed to, and familiar with, both Judaism and Christianity in his childhood in a busy trading city. That he dictated the Koran, in a time of solitude in a cave, is most likely, given the multitude of references of plagiarised Christian and Jewish scriptures.

Lastly, a check of the word "Allah" in a web-translation page returns "no answer found"; a check of the word "God", translated to Arabic, returned "A" and "N", with accompanying Arabic script - not exactly a rousing recognition of the Allah-God theory.
