Law and Order: CI (Criminal Intent) use of "Jihad"Reader comment on item: [The Need to Name and] Know Thy Terrorists Submitted by Carol Leborg (Canada), Nov 19, 2002 at 11:18 I watched the NBC program, "Law and Order: CI," on Sunday. The plot involved the discovery of Islamic suicide bombers in the US. One of the suicide bombers was apprehended, and it was during his interrogation that the word 'jihad' was mentioned. In response to the suicide bomber's discussing the personal growth Islam brought to his individual life, the male lead investigator then used the word 'jihad'. Since the male lead investigator is portrayed as almost a genius (which is why I enjoy the show) and a 'good guy', in my opinion it seemed to be a deliberate attempt by the writers to distance 'jihad' from violence. The West won't win the so-called war on terror by burying their collective heads in the sand.
