stoning in Islam / the addiction to alegory and the problem of misunderstanding JesusReader comment on item: Those Danish Cartoons and Me Submitted by Harrak (Canada), Mar 7, 2006 at 11:07 Lama and Sidda,You did a good job skipping the question about Judaism. From one point you say Islam is regressive and from the other point you do not say Judaism is not progressive. What is the difference between the regressive and the non- progressive! both are the same. Now stoning! ok, 90% of Muslim countries do not apply the stoning rule. The only stoning state model is the Saudi Wahabia (or Arabia) that survive thanks to the US protection. I would say Iran as well, but Iran is fast changing and has already cancelled many rules like the cutting of the stealer' s hand. I am not going to expose to you what the Jews do like you did to me, simply because extreme cases do not represent Judaism, and I have a great deal of respect to that faith. As for Christianity, which I respect too, you can review my previous comments about the theory of translation problem. But briefly here, I just would like to quote something interesting that Christians do not do after Jesus. see: Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed....(From the NIV Bible, Matthew 16:39)" It is interesting that Jesus decided to bow down to god. This rare and not so usual practice in Christianity is something Muslims do 5 times every single day. What Jesus did during his most desperate times in trying to glorify god in the best possible way he can to grab god's attention and to show him that he (Jesus) is giving Him (GOD) everything he can and is bringing himself in the lowest possible humility before him, Muslims simply do it 5 times every day without being desperate to glorify god. I thought to add that in and above every knower there is a more knowing! later, Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
