Here in the West we are presented with an extremely one sided view of the situation on the ground in Gaza, the West Bank, and the Occupied Territories. You have to do a lot of searching to find truly neutral parties to collect information from in order to form an opinion. I have spent several years doing so and can now see that my Government has formed a double standard for what is terror.
There is no excuse for killing civillians. Weather it be with a suicide bomber or a bomb dropped rom an F16. Weather it be a sniper attack or a house demolition. Terror is terror against the civillian population. Though I do not agree with the tactics of Hamas, I believe calling them terrorists instead of Freedom Fighters is wrong. They are a millatant group however extremist fighting for the freedom of their people. Calling them terrorist with out calling the Israeli Defense Forces And therefore the Government that supports them terrorists is unfair and just plain wrong. It's a hard thing to say and, I'm sure even harder to hear. I don't say this to be hateful of to prevoke anger. Only to present another view from a person who prayes daily for both sides.
Also demanding that they recognize Israel with out demanding that Israel recognize Palestine seems yet another double standard. In fact all of the demands seem like double standards if you make comparisons over the last say ten years. It all seem like just another excuse to continue to do nothing to work toward Peace. I would welcome e mail correspondents with people on this and other such matters. Thank you for hearing me out. Peace Be With You, lalasmama
