Nuray there is no excuse

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?
in response to reader comment: Allah's oaths

Dear Nuray,

I have no objections. However this would only imply human beings. In the bible God instruct us to take oaths only in his name.

"Therefore, be very strong to keep and to do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, turning aside from it neither to the right hand nor to the left, that you may not mix with these nations remaining among you or make mention of the names of their gods or swear by them or serve them or bow down to them," Joshua 23:7

"By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; BY ME EVERY TONGUE WILL SWEAR." Isaiah 45:23

"Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth; he who takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes." Isaiah 65:16

Therefore Yahweh God instructed us that He only swears by his name and human beings should also only swear by his name.

On the other hand, your allah swears by a host of heavenly and earthly creations.

I swear by the Mountain, S. 52:1

I swear by the star when it goes down. S. 53:1

I swear by the daybreak, S. 89:1

Nuray, when you take an oath its a plege to abide by an agreement. Failure to abide by it will bring punishment. That's one of the reason why Yahweh orders that we only swear by his name.

And the reason Yahweh swears by his name it's because there is nothing greater than himself.

"For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself." Hebrews 6:13

Nuray why do you worship a god who thinks the moon, the stars and day break are greater than he is. That business of attracting attention to mountains and stars is bogus. God does not need to attract our attention to them because we can see them, study them and manipulate some of them.
The true God does not swear by his creations Nuray. These heavenly and earthly bodies are part of God's dominion.

The Lord Jesus specifically says that to swear by anything other than God is evil or from Satan:

"Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.' But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply ‘Yes' or ‘No'; anything more than this comes from evil." Matthew 5:33-37
