Armageddon, help us avoid a real Armageddon

Reader comment on item: Anti-Muslim Racism?
in response to reader comment: Comment for Mr Peter Handbury

Submitted by Imran (United States), Feb 2, 2006 at 23:49

Peter Hanbury wrote a post about September 11th. He made factual statements regarding how the country of Iraq has suffered under Sadam Husein and instead of removing him from power after the first gulf war the American government left him there to torture his people for another decade.

Its true Peter Hanbury didn't condemn the killers, but as far as I can tell, that's never really been an argument. Everyone's been agreed for a long time now that the attacks were wrong and that the people who did it were bad. There's no argument about it.

However, the fact that U.S. foreign policy might have encouraged these bad people to do their bad deed is not as easly agreed upon by everyone and that's why Peter Hanbury took the time to write his post.

By keep our eyes and ears closed to other ideas and not trying to understand other points of view we make the world the dangerous place its become. The people who attacked on 9/11 had the same philosphy on life and were unwilling to try and understand Americans. If they had been more open-minded and willing to understand other points of view they probably wouldn't have committed such a horrendous act.
