Political Immaturity
Reader comment on item: Thoughts on Hamas' Ascendance
in response to reader comment: Whither Democracy

Submitted by Taha Abdulla Baharoon (United Arab Emirates), Feb 1, 2006 at 02:42

Remarks by Sully, Jan 31, 2006, refers.

To blame Palestinians for 9/11 attack is a classic exmapple of Americans political narrow mindedness and shortsightedness.

This is not a problem of an individual, in this case not a problem of the particular writer referred to above, but a problem of the society not politically matured. For example, this writer may bot be aware at all of the geograhical location of Burkina Faso or, perhaps, even what the word stands for, but he/she may quite familiar with Cuba, Nicaragua, Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon and all other places where the US millitary has fought, is fighting or planning to fight!

Conversely, if one talks to anyone in the street of " the darkest corners of the earth" one may find his/her political awareness, by far, better than than that of an average American. You may wonder why but your own biased media is the culprit for misleading you and for your political immaturity. Has the writer ever tried to find an answer to the one million dollar question as to " Why they hate us?". Probably an answer to that question may be the beginning of his/ her long road to political maturity.
