Dr. Pipes, like many in the West and Israel, has preferred to choose the danger of spread of terrorism, rather than prospects of democracy in the Middle East, as the direct result of the shock win by Hamas in the Palestinian elections. That is their privilege.
For the rest of the world, both criteria of terrorism and democracy, as put out by the West and Israel, is fake and self-serving.
It has no relevance to the real facts on the ground.
The relevant fact is that both US and Israel have unbridled power and will to thwart any attempt to change the status quo on Israel's conquests in the Middle East.
However, at the same time, they are fully aware of their own weak spots in translating that power into 'permanent' facts on the ground.
They can go on endlessly inflicting blood and gore on their adversaries, on one pretext or another.
However, when and if their adversary will get any chance to exploit their weaknesses, they should expect no sympathy from rest of the world.
