What will the U.S. (President Bush) do?

Of course. This point is critical.

I find myself in agreement with those who believe that Hamas embodies the Palestinian goals of genocidal terror. Consequently Hamas resoundingly won; The PLO had been compromised in the eyes of most Palestinians by engaging in make-believe cooperation with Israel and by giving lip service to peace with the Israelis.

That having been said, Secretary Rice is speaking of circumventing Hamas and delivering humanitarian aid, etc., to the Palestinian people themselves.

I think an important question needs to be addressed by President Bush. Will he discuss it in his State of the Union address tomorrow night?

Given the president's own stated goals and policies in our war against Islamic terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere, one might have thought the Bush administration would see Israel's war as we view our own war; that Israel's struggle is our struggle; that we are allies against the same threat, against the same religious ideology.

In World War II, the general perception was that our struggle was a righteous one. There was no compromise with Hitler and Nazism. FDR would not have dreamt of providing humanitarian aid to the German people who helped to bring the Nazis to power.

So, the question remains, does the president see this war against Islamic fanaticism and terrorism in general terms or will he continue to isolate Israel, support the Palestinians who brought the Nazi party to power, and treat it as a separate and unrelated case to our overall war effort?
