I am really confused that you are confused. The point is Taimur that the islamic insistance that all things non muslim needs to be kept from women and girls is a problem that really only gets attention when reported in the extreem.

We need to take special note of this story, not because it is typical of the actions of all muslims, but because of the underlying understanding that this is what can happen to followers of islam. This is the precursor to islamic radicals and islamists. No I'm not drawing a long bow. The strict fundimental adherance to islamic traditions fuels this isolation and paranoia. Yes lets pitty this family, but lets also remenber that the story is not just about them.
