Reader comment on item: Is Islam the Problem? Is It the Solution?

Submitted by John Randall Peacher (United States), Dec 31, 2005 at 04:49

The Islamic countries we are trying to seperate as moderate, radical, supporters of terror and such are the creation of colonialist nations of days gone by. Can we seperate Iraq from Yemen or Egypt or Saudi Arabia as far a the mindset of these nations citizens are concerned? Do they all not have a general Islamic tribal mindset that was inherited from birth and tradition? Are we fooling ourselves to think we can influence one tribe to the disadvantage of another?

Western policy makers are trying to seperate something that was created from birth and it is not working. It is a culture we are at war with. The sooner policy makers realize this we can address the issues head on instead of trying to deal with an entity, countries created by Colonial powers sitting around a table and drawing maps and dividing lines; Syria, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, etc.
